Discover A A More Targeted Approach to Pain Relief

What is Interventional Pain Management?

Interventional pain management uses targeted, minimally invasive procedures to help diagnose and treat pain. Rather than relying only on medication or waiting for symptoms to improve on their own, interventional care focuses on identifying the structures that may be contributing to pain and using precise treatment options to address those areas.

For many patients, this can be an important next step when pain has not improved with rest, medication, physical therapy, chiropractic care, home exercises, or other conservative treatments.

At Modern Pain Management, Dr. El-Baghdadi evaluates your symptoms, health history, imaging when available, and personal goals before recommending care. The goal is to create a treatment plan that makes sense for your condition, your body, and your life.

Spine Injections in Libertyville
  • Spine Injections

Spine injections may be used to help manage pain coming from the neck, mid-back, or lower back. Depending on the source of your symptoms, these procedures may target irritated nerves, inflamed joints, or other pain-generating structures in the spine.

Dr. El-Baghdadi performs spine injections with precision and care, using her extensive experience in interventional pain management to help patients explore nonsurgical options for spine-related pain.

Epidural Steroid Injections in Libertyville
  • Epidural Steroid Injections

Epidural steroid injections are commonly used for certain types of back, neck, arm, or leg pain, especially when symptoms may be related to nerve irritation or inflammation. Patients with conditions such as sciatica, radiating pain, or disc-related symptoms may be evaluated to determine whether this treatment is appropriate.

The purpose of an epidural steroid injection is to deliver anti-inflammatory medication near the affected area, with the goal of reducing irritation and helping patients move more comfortably.

Nerve Blocks Injections in Libertyville
  • Nerve Blocks

Nerve blocks may be used to help identify or manage pain related to specific nerves. These injections can be helpful in determining where pain may be coming from and may also provide therapeutic relief for select patients.

Because nerve-related pain can be complex, Dr. El-Baghdadi takes time to evaluate your symptoms carefully and explain whether a nerve block may be useful as part of your treatment plan.

Radiofrequency Ablation in Libertyville
  • Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation, often called RFA, is a nonsurgical procedure that may be used for certain types of chronic spine or joint-related pain. This treatment uses controlled heat energy to target specific nerves that are carrying pain signals.

For appropriate candidates, RFA may offer longer-lasting relief than some injection-based treatments. Dr. El-Baghdadi will determine whether this option is appropriate based on your symptoms, diagnosis, response to prior treatments, and overall care plan.

Joint Injections in Libertyville
  • Joint Injections

Joint injections may be used to help manage pain in areas such as the knees, hips, shoulders, and other joints. Joint pain may be related to arthritis, inflammation, injury, overuse, or wear and tear over time.

At Modern Pain Management, joint injections are recommended based on a patient’s symptoms, exam findings, imaging when appropriate, and goals for comfort and mobility.

  • Viscosupplementation / Gel Injections

Viscosupplementation, also known as gel injections, may be used for certain patients with knee arthritis or arthritis-related joint pain. These injections are designed to supplement the natural fluid within the joint and may help improve comfort and movement for appropriate candidates.

Dr. El-Baghdadi will evaluate your joint pain and discuss whether gel injections may be a good fit based on your condition and treatment history.

Additional Image-Guided Interventional Procedures
  • Additional Image-Guided Interventional Procedures

Image guidance may be used during certain procedures to support accuracy, precision, and safety. Depending on the condition being treated, Dr. El-Baghdadi may recommend additional image-guided interventional procedures as part of a personalized pain management plan.

These procedures may be considered for patients with spine pain, joint pain, nerve pain, or pain that has not responded well to conservative care.

Our Patients Say It Best

“I am so glad I met Dr El Baghdadi. I was headed for knee replacement surgery and had really bad pain in both knees. I had seen several orthopedic surgeons and two were ready to schedule me for surgery. One stated that I was not quite ready yet. After doing some research on stem cells and how some well known celebrities have tried stem cell therapy with positive results. I did go to a seminar before I visited Dr El Baghdadi with another clinic. I did not go with them as they did not have full facilities and the equipment that Dr El Baghdadi has and the expertise. . She offers her patients various options and takes the time to listen. Im so glad I called and decided to seek her medical advice. I am 80% better on both knees after having completed the stem cell therapy and gel injections. I highly recommend her. I've referred other patients to her.”
